By accessing or using Gowlet ("Service," "we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

2. Description of Service

Gowlet is a GPS-based interactive map adventure platform that allows users to:

• Create custom routes with GPS checkpoints
• Add interactive challenges and questions to checkpoints
• Share routes with others via unique codes or public listings
• Play routes created by others using GPS navigation
• Track progress and view analytics (Premium feature)

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

To create routes, you must register for an account by providing:

• A valid email address
• A secure password

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

3.2 Anonymous Play

Users may play routes anonymously without creating an account by entering a route code. Anonymous players can optionally provide a nickname.

3.3 Account Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Keep your password secure and confidential
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized account access
• Be responsible for all activities under your account

4. User-Generated Content

4.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of routes, challenges, and content you create ("Your Content"). By creating content on Gowlet, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, and display Your Content as necessary to provide the Service.

4.2 Public Routes

If you mark a route as "public," you grant other users the right to view and play that route. You can change a route back to private at any time.

4.3 Content Standards

You agree NOT to create or share content that:

• Is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or hateful
• Infringes on intellectual property rights
• Contains private information of others without consent
• Directs users to unsafe, dangerous, or illegal locations
• Contains spam, advertising, or commercial solicitations
• Is sexually explicit or promotes violence
• Violates any applicable laws or regulations

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these standards without notice.

5. GPS and Location Services

5.1 Location Permission

The Service requires GPS/location access to function. By using the gameplay features, you consent to location tracking during active play sessions only.

5.2 Safety and Responsibility

IMPORTANT: You are responsible for your own safety while playing routes.

• Always be aware of your surroundings
• Obey all traffic laws and local regulations
• Do not trespass on private property
• Do not play while driving
• Use the Service at your own risk

We are NOT responsible for accidents, injuries, or damages that occur while using the Service.

6. Premium Subscriptions

6.1 Free Tier

Free accounts include:

• 1 active route at a time
• Routes expire after 10 days
• Basic features only
• Ads displayed during gameplay

6.2 Premium Tier

Premium subscriptions include:

• Up to 25 active routes
• Routes valid for 1 year
• Public route listings
• Analytics and statistics
• Ad-free gameplay experience
• Image upload support

6.3 Billing

Premium subscriptions are billed annually. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time through your account settings.

6.4 Refunds

Refunds are provided at our discretion on a case-by-case basis. Contact us within 14 days of purchase to request a refund.

7. Prohibited Uses

You agree NOT to:

• Violate any laws or regulations
• Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
• Attempt to hack, compromise, or bypass security measures
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) without permission
• Interfere with other users' access to the Service
• Collect data about other users without consent
• Create routes that direct users to dangerous locations
• Use the Service for commercial purposes without authorization

8. Intellectual Property

The Gowlet platform, including its design, features, software, and branding, is owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service without written permission.

9. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services:

• Google AdSense: Displays advertisements to non-Premium users
• Supabase: Database and authentication provider
• OpenStreetMap: Map tile provider

Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND.

We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:

• Accuracy, reliability, or availability of the Service
• Fitness for a particular purpose
• Non-infringement of third-party rights
• Accuracy of GPS coordinates or route data
• Safety of routes created by users

11. Limitation of Liability

WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

This includes but is not limited to:

• Personal injury or property damage while playing routes
• Loss of data or user-generated content
• Service interruptions or downtime
• Unauthorized access to your account
• Actions of other users
• Inaccurate GPS data or directions

In jurisdictions that do not allow limitation of liability, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Gowlet, its owners, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Content you create or share
• Your violation of any rights of others

13. Termination

We reserve the right to:

• Suspend or terminate your account at any time for any reason
• Remove any content that violates these Terms
• Discontinue the Service at any time without notice

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon termination, your right to use the Service immediately ceases.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Sweden.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users.
